BeAWARE of the warning signs of heart attack and stroke

Supporting non-clinical staff to proptly identify patients with warning signs of heart attack or stroke

Fifteen per cent of patients who experience warning signs of heart attack or stroke will call or attend a general practice as a first response. Through online learning and in-practice resources, BeAWARE of the warning signs of heart attack or stroke educates your non-clinical staff to promptly patients entering the practice system (by calling or attending) with suspected warning signs, and immedicately escalate the situation to a clinical staff member. BeAWARE also helps you to demonstrate adherence to accreditation standards and reduce your risk of medico-legal litigation.

Triage in General Practice

Telephone triage is commonly the first step on many patient pathways, particularly in after hours or unscheduled care, but we underestimate the full potential of telephone care and the risks associated with telephone triage. In spite of the technology surrounding healthcare nowadays, old fashioned talking to the patient over the phone is still an important and integral part of their care.

To view a telephone triage online seminar, or for more information on clinical triage training manuals, visit the AGPN Triage in General Practice page above.
