The Australian General Practice Network offers a Business Case Package, designed to provide support to general practice networks in their discussions with general practices of the benefits and implications of employing a Practice Nurse (PN). The package includes:
- Case studies illustrating the roles performed by nurses in a number of practices. These case studies describe real practices and depict a range of different models of nurse use in general practice.
- Financial Models for large and small - urban, rural and solo General Practitioner (GP) practices, suggesting how nurses can be introduced into general practice and how this may affect the financial performance of the practice.
- A detailed description of the methodology used in developing the business case models.
The Business Case Package was first completed in May 2003 and since this time has undergone a number of revisions. The business case models were last revised in December 2005 to reflect the introduction of the new Chronic Disease Management MBS Items for GP Management Plans and Team Care Arrangements.
The package is divided into nine sections and can be downloaded by clicking on the pdf document links listed below.
